The Zambia Women Parliamentarians’ Caucus (ZWPC) is a non-profit-making affiliate of the Southern African Development Community Parliamentary Forum (SADC-PF) under the Regional Women’s Parliamentary Caucus (RWPM), an international non-profit, non-governmental organization (NGO) with fourteen member parliaments from the fourteen SADC member States. It is also an affiliate of the Commonwealth Women’s Parliamentary Caucus (CWPC). The SADC-PF and the CWPC unite women Parliamentarians from diverse democracies, who share a commitment to promoting gender equality, especially increasing the number of women in political leadership positions, and empowering women and girls. It is also involved in pioneering judicial and educational programs for the advancement of human rights. The caucus was established in 1997 and currently has twenty members. Among SADC-PF and the CWPC programs, the caucus has prioritized increasing the number of women in leadership positions, particularly the number of women elected as Members of Parliament and the promotions of women’s and girl’s empowerment.
